Curated performance art programme, co-curated by Aideen Barry, Mermaid Arts Centre, Wicklow
Terms & Conditions, was a historic exhibition curated by Pauline Cummins and Aideen Barry which included eight new performance works commissioned by Wicklow County Council and The Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray. Especially significant was the use of a space that is almost null and void of feeling, the underground car-park. This space acted as a canvas for the transmission of the selected video works that highlighted visual artist’s performances to camera. It was also important as it commissioned new live performances from Irish artists from Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Cummins performed the first in her series Sound the Alarm, inspired by the Ryan Report about the institutional abuse of children in the exhibition. You can find the catalogue here.
